Bear Lake

Over the weekend we went to Bear Lake. Shawn's sister Melissa invited us to go to a cabin that she had for the weekend. The cabin, more like a log house, was way more beautiful than I had imagined! It was huge!! Each family was able to have their own rooms and even the some of the kids had their own rooms. There was a huge Kitchen with cute log tables to eat at. We each took a turn providing a meal for everyone, which made it really nice and less stress! The kids had a lot of fun playing upstairs in the game room. It had a pool table, fuse ball and a TV that was hooked up to the wii. Saturday we went sledding and everyone had so much fun! Well, that is until Shawn's Mom went down a super steep hill and landed in a sink hole. She twisted her ankle and got a few scrapes and bruises. We spent most of the time in the theater room rocking out to Rockband 2 on the Xbox! We played it so much, that one of the kids came in and said it wasn't that good to be addicted to playing it so much! It was really funny to see Shawn's Dad rockin out!! I didn't know he liked music so much! Shawn's sisters did a great job singing too! Me and Scott went and sat in the hot tub. How fun to sit in a hot tub when there is snow all around! It's fun until, you get out and have to walk in the snow to get back to the house. It was a great weekend just relaxing and visiting with each other, oh yeah and I tried to go shopping, but all the stores were closed for the season. Bummer, I guess it just saved me some money though.

Oh my! The thing about blogging or keeping a journal is that you can go back and read what you have written. That is a dangerous thing!! I don't know how to describe how I am feeling after reading a few I wrote when I started this blog. Should I cry and be depressed for all the things I thought would have happened by now, (like our addition and being better off financially) or should I laugh hysterically because I thought that!! A while ago I went through and read my journal that I wrote in when I was a young girl. I was amazed at what I read. I must say, I did not like what I had read. I never thought that I was a depressing person, but after reading my journal, I came away feeling so sorry for that person. Not for what they were going through, but for how depressed they (I) sounded. I must have this need to write when I am feeling down. Note to self; write when you are feeling happy too!!! I do not want people or who ever if any that read my journal to think that I was a depressed person. The years when I was dating and in college were great! I was so happy and full of life and so close to the spirit, I want to feel that way again!! One good thing, you can look back and see what you have accomplished and what you have taken for granite! I think I will take away from this, is that I should ENJOY what is happening NOW! Its okay to feel depressed or sad, but don't let it take over! Enjoy and appreciate what is good in your life now and look forward to more that will come. yeah, we have had a couple of bad years and we may more to come, but I will try and face it with a positive attitude. Attitude is everything right!!

Time to tell you something about my cutie husband. He will buy anything someone will try to sell him! We went to St.George for Thanksgiving and while we were there we went to a craft fair. There was a booth there selling weird rock lamps. I quickly passed it and thought to myself those are ugly, who buys that stuff? Well, to my surprise, MY husband bought it! They are actually Rock Salt Lamps from the Himalayans. It is suppose to purify the air quality in the room and he thinks it is suppose to help you sleep better. Really?! That thing lights up the room, I can't sleep at all when he has his precious little lamp is on. Not only did he buy one for our room, but he bought another one for Scott's room. I'm glad Shawn does not go shopping more often!! No more craft fairs for him!

**you know what, thats it!! After a couple of rough years, I'm grateful for what I have!! I have my family, we are all somewhat healthy, and a home. To some I may have it all!
I guess you could say for Christmas this year I am asking for a miracle! Well, maybe I'm a little closer to a miracle....then again, maybe not!

Wow, this is a long time coming. Scott is 17 now!!!! Holy cow, where has the time gone! It seems like only a few years ago that he would come up to me with his favorite blankie and want me to rock him to sleep. When Madison came along, oh he was such a great big brother. He always was protective of her and had his arm around her taking her places. What best buddies they were. He has always been such a smarty pants!! In first grade he loved to write reports for his show and tell. He would tell the class all about how rainbow are made and tell the kids all about gravity. Most of it he learned from Magic School Bus! He hasn't changed a bit! Such a smarty! He was just inducted into the National Honors Society!! He still loves to tell all sorts of information, sometimes I have no idea what he is even talking about. I just nod my head and smile. :) One year left until he is officially an adult! EEEKK!! I can't even imagine having an adult son! 2 years until his mission! Oh my, now I feel OLD!! It is never going to matter how old he is, he will always be MY little boy!!

I watched the General Releif Society broadcast tonight. It was so wonderful. I loved The last talk by President Uchtdorf. My favorite part of his talk, was when he was talking about sacrafices and what were good ones and not so good ones. I laughed out lound when he talked about all the work you put into making handmade pot holders for handouts for a lesson!! State Fair

Last night we had a great time at the State Fair. OK, besides the walking and parking blocks away it was fun!! We went because after months and months of pleading and begging I finally caved in and let Scott go to the Weird Al concert. I had to bum around at the fair to wait for the concert to get over to take him home. (Of course!! I had to find a picture with Donny too!)

While we were there we saw a 7ft Robot walking around talking to people. That was awesome!! Nicholas was in awe of it! I found a paparazzi booth there and yes, of course I had to stop and look. there was a tank at the booth that had oysters in it and you could pick an oyster and get the pearl out of it and make a necklace. Shawn asked me if I wanted to do it and I was not going to let that opportunity go so I said yes! It was fun! My oyster had a pink pearl in it! It is very pretty! After that we went and got food. Let me just say, I love ribbon fries! Yummy!!

We ran into friends from our ward and they looked like they were having a blast! They were not surprised at all that Scott was at the Weird Al concert! When we were getting ready to leave Shawn stopped by the oyster tank again and wanted to bring a pearl home to Madi! Hey when he gets in moods like this I'm not gonna stop him! He even took a video of it to show her when we got home. ( Madi stayed home, she didn't want to come) I thought that was so sweet of him!! We had such a fun and great night! I still can't believe that Shawn paid a dollar to see the worlds smallest lady!!

Well we did it! We finally went on a vacation! We haven't been on one for a couple of years, other than going to St.George to see family. We went to Yellowstone last week. We went with Shawn's family. His parents were unable to make it and couldn't get a refund for the first night, so Shawn and I were able to use their room. We had the kids stay in our cabin and we stayed in theirs for the first night. That was nice to be alone with Shawn. That night we ate at the Canyon Lodge dining room. Nicholas got a coloring book with a map of the gift shops in the park. At each gift shop they gave him a sticker to put in his book. When he got all the stickers they gave him a cute stuffed moose. The next day there we saw 7 bears. We saw a mother bear with cubs and the cubs were climbing the trees it was so adorable. That night we went on the east side of the park and while we were there the road got washed away because of the high river. The road was down to one lane so we had to wait for our turn. We ate breakfast at the cute little diner called the "Soda Fountain". It was so cute. We got Nicholas a junior ranger hat and a badge. He didn't take it off for the rest of the trip. It was fun walking around looking at the hot pots and seeing how beautiful Yellowstone is. We went to one area that had a bridge and the fire hole river . Shawn started fishing it and the funniest thing happened. Tourist would stop and watch him fish and were taking his picture. I tried taking a picture of all the Japanese tourists taking his picture but they moved on to quickly. Nicholas was picking up little rocks and was throwing them in the river and at Shawn. We stayed in a room that had 1 queen bed. The kids slept on the floor. On the way home from Yellowstone we went to Beat World. That was so fun to be so close to the bears. One bear actually tried to get in the back of our truck. We also got to feed the bears. They have a few rides that the kids could go on. Nicholas loved that part. We had a fun time on our vacation and it was fun to be there together as a family.

Yes, it sadly is true! I am the big Forty! 40! No!!! If you really stop and think about it, My life is half over. Ive been a little depressed about turning the f word, with help from some wonderful friends, They helped me get over my fear of being the f word. For my birthday they took me out to breakfast and we had a girls morning out! It was so much fun! This was one of the best birthdays I have had in years! You know, I'm going to look at it differently now, I still have half my life to look forward to and with great friends and family it will be fun!!

YES!!!!!!! I saw DONNY!! I was debating all week if I really wanted to fight the crowd and get up early and wait for hours in a line to see him, and I decided not to go. I've been ornery and depressed and didnt want to go. Well I woke up saturday with a migrane and really knew I wasn't going to see him now. He was to be at Walmart at 11 am and I woke up at 9. I thought that there is no way I could get in line and see him now. Last time I went to see him I went 2 hrs early and was still about 50 th in line. Well about 12:30 I decided to just run to walmart and run in and just look at him, but when I got there the line was so short I just got in line with the kids and went for it!! I talked to him!!!! Yeah!! He said Nicholas was a cute kid! and He liked my Donny earings!! What a cutie he is!!! I love my DONNY!!!! Yeah!!

I loved watching the Royal Wedding on TV. It was like watching a real true and live Fairy Tale wedding. Kate looked so elegant in her wedding dress. I loved her earings. It was so cute to see Prince William glance over at Kate and smile. He looked like he was so in love! He was beaming.

Of course, that is what I thought when I watched Princess Diana and Prince Charles get married too, and look how that turned out. Somehow, I think this Fairy Tale wedding will have a longer and happier ending! One question though, what is the deal with the ladies hats? I think that hats are over rated and annoying. How the heck do they get them to stay on their head!

How Cute is this?!! I love this picture of Madi and Shawn!! So adorable! Madi was so nervous for the Daddy Daughter Date, little did she know was that Shawn was probably more nervous than she was. When Shawn found out that there was line dancing, well lets just say I couldn't even get him to dance at our wedding! I think he really was excited, especially when he came home that night from work with a little gift for Madi...... a pink suede cowboy hat with sequins and a tiara!! How cute is that!! That was so sweet of him to do that! All in all, they had a lot of fun and even won a game. The sad thing was is that only 2 dads showed up for the activity. Well, I guess Madi will always be her Daddy's little girl!

yes, it is true!! I love holidays!! Oh, my how I do. I love to decorate and have fun!! On Valentines day I made heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. Yummy...no, I did not put red food coloring in the pancakes. My kids are so picky they probably wouldn't have eaten them. The kids got some cute little stuffed animals and candy. They love it!! I got Shawn an exercise ball that he has been wanting. For dinner that night I made heart shaped scones for Navajo tacos and then the best part.......chocolate covered strawberries!!!! Yummy!! Shawn was sweet and brought home some roses for me! I love Valentines Day!!

I just noticed I never blogged about Nicholas's birthday! Yeah that was 2 months ago!! Here is the cake I made for him.

December seemed to fly by so fast as it usually does. I love Christmas and wish it would last a whole lot longer!! We had a surprise visit from Santa !! He came to our house 5 days early and left us a few things. That was truly amazing and wonderful!! I love Santa and his helpers!! We were able to go down to St.George and visit my family. That was a lot of fun, although we went down in the terrible snow storm and that was so scary. I was begging Shawn to stop in beaver and get a motel, but we kept on going. I will never go down in a snow storm again. Its just not worth it.

Starting back up to work in January was a little tough. I liked hanging out with my kids and just having fun. I do love working at the preschool. I work with great ladies!! It makes work fun to go to!! I went down to St.George again with Kim from work and we had fun. I was able to go and visit my sister in law who has been sick from fighting breast cancer. She had her new little grandbaby with her. My niece Kaya had her baby and what a cutie patutie he is!! I love newborns, they are so dang cutie and snugly. That was a fun trip!! Shawn even missed me when I got back. :) Friday night I had a girls night out with friends and it was a blast. I really need that!!

Today in church I felt like the messages being taught were just for me. I feel like I was sent messages from above. It has been tough for us with things going on in our lives, but with a great group of friends that I have, they keep me smiling! :)

What the Heck!! I am getting so tired of everything breaking down in my life! In the past 6 weeks here is the list of things that have gone wrong.........Washing machine breaks down, unfix able, The oven door broke, in my hands while I was baking. Thank heavens that was fixable. The water heater breaks down, unfix able, needed a new one. At least I know this way cute plumber who installed it for me. :) Shawn finds out he is out of a job. Not so good news, especially during the winter and upcoming holidays. My car keeps breaking down. A new battery later and I thought it was fixed, but sadly no such luck. I wonder how long I can drive my car with the check engine light on before it blows up. It is getting really hard to stay positive when this kind of stuff goes on. I guess its times like these that you really need to stop and count the blessings you have. I am thankful that Shawn is such a good handy man that he can fix most of the problems. So long as everyone is healthy and happy with a roof over our heads, nothing else matters right?

I tried so hard to get the kids help me put it up last Sunday but all I heard was..... its to early, or its not even Thanksgiving yet. Well, wouldn't you know it, the neighbor put hers up yesterday!! Swiss Days!

Over the weekend we went to Swiss Days in Midway. I love to look at the beautiful houses there. Such a beautiful little town, that must be the reason why I feel like I must go to Swiss Days.
Every year on labor day weekend I get excited to go to Swiss Days, and every year I come back saying the same thing.... What a joke....what a waste of time. It was so Hot and so crowded. The booths were the exact same as any other craft fair. The stuff at the booths were so expensive. It took us all afternoon to drive there and wait and wait in the traffic to get a spot to park and then you have to walk and walk just to get to the booths. It is so crowded you barely can even look in them. The best part was walking back to the car and stopping at 7-11 where we got a Slurpee, and watching Shawn making a mess of his. I probably can look at last years blog about Swiss Days and it will probably say the same thing. See ya next year Swiss Days! Oh, by the way.....there is a craft fair this weekend at the Mutton Hollow Craft barn here in kaysville.....anyone want to come with me!?

Camping Trip

I 'm finally going to blog about or little camping trip we took. When my Dad came up and painted my cabinets, we couldn't stand the smell of the paint fumes and didn't want to smell it all night, so we decided to take a little trip while the smell faded away. I was hoping to stay in a motel at park city and do some window shopping, (money is tight right now so no real shopping for me) Shawn thought it would be fun to go to Hawkins reservoir and camp. The kids liked that idea better. We borrowed Shawn's Dad's boat and went fishing. The kids had a lot of fun. Madi and I thought it would be fun to row the boat. NOT!! It is not fun and it is way harder than I thought it was! On our way home we drove on some back roads in Idaho and came up on some cowboys driving their cattle. We were at a stand still until they could pass around us. It was fun watching them. The kids were so tired on the way home. It was a fun little camping trip.

Kitchen Makeover!!!

Yeah!! I feel like I have a new Kitchen!! My wonderful and amazing Dad came up and painted my cabinets for me. He worked really hard and he even brought up a couple of his workers to help him. Nicholas was always following him around. It's a miracle he never got paint on him!! (or he even didn't get "into" the paint!) Shawn got some brushed nickle knobs to put on the doors for the final touch. Oh yeah one more amazing thing,......ITS CLEAN!!!!!! Yes! I have a counter! I never knew it was there before! I have actually cleaned through my cupboards and got rid of a lot of junk I didn't need. I have kept my kitchen cleaned for 4 days now!! Believe me that is huge!! I do the dishes right away and clean after myself. Yes, its a new concept for me that I'm hoping to stick with it!! Thank you Dad !!!! You are awesome!! I love you!!

Yipee!! It is with great pleasure that I get to announce that Shawn is FINALLY graduating from the DATC for the plumbing program. It has been a very long 4 years, but he has finished!! Good Job Shawn!!! I am very proud of you!! Thank you for all that you have done for me and the kids!! It's going to be nice to have you home with us more often, but if I know you, you've already planned out what you will do with that extra time. Biking!!!

One of the best things about being a Mom is that you get to brag about your kids!! Well, its my turn to start bragging. Scott and Madi both received awards from Kaysville Junior High. Madison got the Honors award and also perfect attendance. I was surprised at that one. Scott received the High Honors award and also he won the Presidential Education Award!! So congrats to my smarty pants kids! (they must take after thier Dad)

Living room Makeover!!!!!!

My living room was in need of a makeover so badly. My carpet was looking so awful. Shawn and I were so fed up with it, that I asked him to just rip it out and I'd just have a ply wood floor! I am so lucky to have a Handy man husband!! He can just about do anything!! He layed down a laminate floor for me!!! He did such an excellent job too!!! It looks amazing and so beautiful!! I can have people over to my house again!!!

Madi wanted a sewing machine so bad!! She gave me all the money she had (which happened to be $22) and asked me to buy her a sewing machine. I was thinking yeah right! We looked every where and to my surprise I found this cute sewing machine at Walmart! It is a singer too! It was only $35. Madi has been sewing up a storm! She made a watermelon pillow at school and came home and made up a pattern to make a popcorn pillow!! She has mended Scott's clothes and is looking for anything to sew!! I guess I had better find her some little projects she can do!

We went to the Elton John/ Billy Joel concert last night!! It was so amazing!!!!! The music was so awesome and loud, oh so very loud!!! The energy solutions arena was sold out! There were so many people there!! The special effects during the concert was so cool!! i liked all the lights. We had the very last row on the top section, boy was it a climb to get up there! I barely made it! We were directly above the stage so we could see what was going on. They also had a huge screen to watch it on too!! My brother had bought tickets and had two extra tickest so Shawn and I went with them. It was like a double date! It was so much fun!! I have had 4 dates with My husband in 4 weeks and it has been so much fun! I think I really do enjoy dating him again!!! He is fun to be around and I have grown a lot closer to him!! I think I love him!!!!! Ok, so in a nutshell, the concert was totally fun and amazing!!! Thanks Big Bro!!!!

Yeah Madi!!!! Madi is student of the month for December! We went to a ceremony last week at Taco Time, at 7 am. They had a breakfast there. They gave her a certificate and some coupons for free stuff and a KJH pin. Her English teacher got up and said a few things about Madi and how wonderful she is. (I already knew she was wonderful!!) My Gratitude Journal

Thanksgiving is now less than a week away. Lately I have been noticing on facebook that a lot of people are writing down things they are Thankful for. As I have been looking back at the year and thinking of all the things that has happened to us, I can see how easy it is to stop and get stuck in the self pity mode. This year has been a tough one. Almost comical in a way. I can't believe how much can go wrong in one year.
Here we go: Shawn losing his job in January. Oscar gets ran over by a car. The TV breaks. The oven breaks down. The water heater breaks down. The iron breaks. ( That's a big deal in this house, Shawn loves to iron his clothes. P.S I'd do it for him, but he doesn't like the way I iron) The key to the car breaks in half. The dishwasher broke. The cabinet was starting to fall apart under the kitchen sink. there are a few other house problems we need to deal with. Constantly telling the kids no I can't buy you that because there isn't enough money right now. My brother calls me and invites me to go to Billy Joel's concert and then it gets postponed. The list could probably go on and on.
But after writing this list, I realize how much worse things could be. I truly am thankful for all the things I have been blessed with.
I am so thankful for my Savior and all that he has done for us. I am thankful to be a member of his Church and to have the Gospel in my life.
I am so thankful for Shawn and all that he does for this family. He works so hard everyday and comes home so tired and then he goes to school. He makes a lot less than what he was making and he works so much harder, and he never really complains about that. I am thankful he has a job. I am so thankful that he is a great handy man!! He is able to fix most all the things that breakdown in the house. I am so thankful he can do all that it saves us probably a ton of money. I love to watch him play with Nicholas he is a great Dad!!
I am so thankful for my kids. Madison is always writing me the cutest notes and She leaves them on my pillow. Scott is fun to watch Star Trek with and Nicholas, well, he is just so full of fun and happiness and so much love!! I now realize how much I needed him in my life.

I am so thankful I have a house! I love the luxury of having a warm place to sleep and having a bathroom and electricity!!!! ( a lot of people in the world don't have that kind of luxury)
I am so grateful that I live in this beautiful country!! I am grateful for a great family!!
I have wonderful sisters I can talk to and they are there for me when I need them. I have a wonderful Mom and Dad. My brother is Nicholas's hero!! He loves him and talks about him all the time!!
I have great in laws!! Shawn's Dad and Mom are always there to help out whenever we may need them!! They are so awesome!!
I am very thankful for my ward. I have a lot of good friends I have made.
This list can go on and on forever!!!
When you start to think about how much your life has been blessed it becomes overwhelming to see how wonderful things really are. The bad things or the things that are not going right in your life seem to get smaller and are just a little inconvenience. I think I will start a gratitude journal and write down a few things everyday to help keep me positive and not focus on the things that are going wrong. I know that will help me from getting stuck in that self pity mode!!

My New Job

I am now a working Mom!!!! I haven't had a job for like 15 years!! I get to work at the Reach Preschool. The best thing about the job is that I am able to take Nicholas with me!! I am finding out however, that Nicholas is a handful at preschool. He wants to play all the time and just do whatever he wants. I have to remind myself that he is only 2 and the other kids are 5. You wouldn't believe how 18 4-5 year olds can totally wipe you out! It seems as though I am constantly talking very loud!! Oh yes, and I am always singing the preschool songs. I get them stuck in my head!! Working with Miriam is awesome!! I can't believe how much I have missed her living next door. It has been so fun working with her. The kids are so cute too!! They are fun to talk to and hear all their funny stories. There are a few kids who are a little out of control but for the most part the kids are so fun. It was nice to get a paycheck too!!

(I totally knew he'd be good, he's good at anything!)

Sunday was my Hancey family reunion. We went up milcreek canyon and spent the day there. It was fun to see everyone and to catch up on how everyone is doing. I showed everyone (well, the girls) how to make duct tape bags. My family has a lot of really crafty people so needless to say those bags turned out so cute!!! I want to make a new one! I didn't get a chance to make one because I was helping everyone. Shawn of course ditched most of it and went fishing. Well, we had fun!!!

Today August 22, is our 17th wedding anniversary!! 17 years!! It doesn't seem like it has been that long. This year Shawn is gone to somewhere in Montana working. He will be gone until next weekend. Its kinda sad that we won't be together this year for our anniversary, but then again we didn't even celebrate last years.

Girls Camp Rocked!!!!!

Ok, I loved Girls Camp!!! I must say it was one of the best Girl's camp I have ever been to!! It was so much fun and spiritual too! I great combination of both! I really need to be there to listen to all of the messages that were given.

The theme this year was "He Loves Me". Each ward was assigned a flower and Our ward were the Callalilies. Callalilies mean ideally pure and beautiful. We loved that. We each got a backpack with a journal and a flower pen. Our color was Hot Pink so we called ourselves the Hot Pink Ladies! It was fun!!

The first day we play some "getting to know you" games together as a stake. We played human fuse ball. That was fun!! We did alot of cheers at camp. By the last day I was cheered out! That night we had a guest speaker come and talk about her experiences with her health issues and how they had affected her. She was great. You coul really feel the spirit so strong!

The next day was hiking day! I stayed at the cabins and read my donny book. The hike was about 3 miles and was up hill. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it and it would be way to embarassing to even try. The girls seemed to have lots of fun though. We made crafts! Now anyone who knows me, knows I love to make crafts!! We made note cards and magnet boards and a few other things. That night we had a concert by Greg Simpson. He was so awesome! I loved his music. He sang and talked about his experiences. After the concert we went back to the lodge and there was a chocolate fountain waiting for us!! Talk about yummy!!

The next morning we had workshops by the Stake. They really went to alot of work and I really enjoyed listening to the talks. That afternoon we made duct tape bags. They turned out so cute and were lots of fun to make. That night we had the Stake President come and talk to us.

Oh, The food was faboulous!!! So yummy!! The first night we had an Asian buffet!! I've never been to a girl's camp where they have fed you so well!! Tin foils dinners, salad bars and bajion mexican buffet were all great too!

I think the best part of girl's camp is sitting around the fire just talking and being with the girls. I loved playing the games with them. Ok, yes I do get to involved with the games, but that makes it all the more fun!! (remember girls, what happens at girl's camp, stays at girls camp!) The best night is when we have testimony meeting and share our feelings with each other. You really get to know the girls on a completley different level when your at girls camp. We have some truly awesome girls and I love all of them!!! I was so glad I was able to go and be there with the young women and it was so cool that Madi was able to come too!! I was so busy having tons of fun and having spiritual uplighting moments, I completley forgot to even take any pictures!! Bummer! But the memories will live on forever!!!

Sunday Night Dinner

OH my what a night! I made roast, potatoes, cooked carrots, delicious squash from the garden, salad, homeade rolls and yes, homeade Cinnamon rolls!! I don't know why I go to so much work to make a nice meal on Sundays when I know no one appreciates it. I have to call and call out for everyone to come to dinner. tonight Shawn refused to come and eat. I think he should have a least given me the courtesy of at least coming in to sit at the table with the family. He say's he hates my roast and never wants to eat it again. Well, when the budget is tight you need to eat what you have available in your freezer!! If one of the kids pouted like that he would have made them eat it! He said I was being ornery so he didn't want to be around me. You think?! whatever! Next sunday He's making dinner!

Ivins Reunion

Last weekend we had an "Ivins Reunion". A group of us who grew up in Ivins in the 80's got together. We had a lot of fun times growing up in Ivins. We seemed to be a very close nit group of friends. It was so awesome to see everyone and to find out what they have been up to. The highlight of the reunion was Gitarzan!!! I must say, it is a lot different 20 years later! But still just as awesome and funny!!! Gitarzan (for those of you non Ivins gang) is the lip sync the Ivins guys ( pics below) did that won every competition they were in! I hope we make this reunion a yearly event. It was so fun!!

Lagoon

Thanks to Scott and his job at Lagoon, we were able to get family passes for the employee day at Lagoon!! It was so much fun!! My sister Sarah came with us. I had so much fun holding her little baby while everyone went on rides. I didn't even realize until I got home that I only rode on one ride! Nicholas had so much fun riding on the kiddie rides, especially the cars! We had tons of fun and cant wait til the next employee family day!!!

The Young Women went boating a few weeks ago. We have had to put it off because of all the rain we got in the first of June. We finally went and the weather stayed good. We did have a wind storm we had to wait out but other than that it was great. We had a lot of girls come, which is so awesome!! I wish they'd come to ALL the activities and not just the fun ones!! I stayed on the beach while the girls went out on the boat. I'm not to crazy about being in a boat on the middle of the lake, or how fast they go. Nicholas had so much fun playing with Cooper. They were having a water/mudd fight! It was so funny watching them. I must say I think Cooper was getting the best of Nicky. He was dumping muddy sand all over him and then Nicky would try and dump water on him. We had a ton of fun!! I think the young women did too!! Its really hard getting pictures of the girls waterskiing, especially when you cant see far away.

Last week was Scott's final Choir concert. It was good and they had a surprise guest George Dyer! He is a popular singer here in Utah. he sings on Broadway. He was fantastic!! Anyway I was so glad to see Scott in the choir. Last Saturday he went to the new STAR TREK movie. If any of you who don't know, my son is a huge Trekkie!! We watch Star Trek reruns every night.
Well, he got all dressed up in his Star Trek uniform and had his tricorder and phaser gun to go to the movie. I took him there with his two friends and dropped them off, apparently having your mom go to the movie with you is totally uncool, at the movies. When I picked them up after the movie, I was surprised to hear Scott say how he HATED the movie. His two friends thought it was great. I can't wait to see it..I like that Chris Pine. He is a cutie!! I'm going to take Scott with me and give the movie a second chance!

Last night we went to Madi's orchastrea concert. She has been playing the violin for 6th grade. She has stuck with it throught the year, even though she wanted to quit. The concert was so crowded. I can't believe they tried to fit 6 different elementary schools in the gym. What a joke! It was so hot and crowded it was very hard to spot Madi among all the other kids. Last week she also had her 6th grade program. I took so pictures of her and I think they turned out pretty good, despite the little brother who is a camera ham!!

Happy May Day!!
May day always reminds me of elementary school. We always had a May Day festival. It was a dance festival. Each grade did a different dance and the 6th graders go to braid the maypole.
I remember dancing a square dance to the music, OH Johny oh, and dancing the Charleston. We also did dances with sticks. I remember how excited I was to finally be in 6th grade so I could braid the maypole!!! Fun memories.

My New Toy

I got a new toy that I really love. I got a lamination machine. I have always wanted one. i got it from Walmart for like $25. The laminating pouches I found for a great deal at Sams club $6.42 for 50. Later, I found out its a way better deal to get the machine at Sams, its the same price, but you get 20 pouches with it. I laminated tons of stuff already. I found some artwork from the kids I wanted to keep so i laminated them too. Its so fast and easy to use! Its great for the FHE lesson group too. Now I will start to laminate my handouts for Young Womens too!! Oh geez, I am starting to sound like a commercial. anyway I love it!!! Come and borrow it anytime, you'll love it too!!

Its so sad to lose a pet that you love. It has been so sad and depressing around here without Oscar. I never realized how much I did like him until he was gone. I cant help but feel so responsible for his death. I wish I would have taken care of him better. Madison has been heart broken over Oscar. I know that time will heal all things and life does go on. My latest Addiction!

ok, so I have an addiction problem. I love facebook. I get on it all the time. I have 2 favorite games that I play, and might I add they were both introduced to me by my friend Sherri. Anyway the first is Bejeweled. That game drives me crazy!! First, the voice of the guy who starts the game is a little creepy, but how I get so happy when it or he says good or excellent. Second, the game is fixed or something, I play it all the time and usually my score is around 20,000 but occasionally the score will grow clear up to 90,000. I have no idea how it gets that high. The times in the game that I think I am doing good is when I get a low score. I just don't understand it, but I love it!!
The next game I am addicted to is Farm Town. I love this game. I dream about this game in my sleep and even have woken up early so I can harvest my crops. It is really fun to have your own little farm and to plant crops and have animals. You have to harvest your crops everyday so you can earn money and plant more crops or buy things for your farm. I am saving up to buy a barn. You get more money if you hire people to harvest your crops. Its fun to talk to people from all over the world who are into the game as much or even way more as you. Try these games out they are so much fun!! Warning ........You may become addicted!!!!

Sunburned already?

Today is the first day of spring!!! I love winter the best, but this winter seems to have drug on and on. Yesturday I went to the park with friends and enjoyed the beautiful day. While we we there, Nicholas fell asleep in my arms. I held him for awhile while I was talking with friends. Later that night I noticed he had got sunburned on one side of his body. He had a very rosy cheek and arm. It was so funny to see half his body sunburned. It isn't a bad sunburned so don't feel to bad for him. I thought it was surprising that there was enough sun to be worring about getting sunburned already! Isn't he so cute!!!

I must be in a bad mood, cause I just feel like complaining. I really hate glass doors. I know that sounds strange but I really do hate glass doors. I am on my way to church thinking I look OK and then it happens, I got to the door to go in and see my reflection in the glass door and realize that I don't look as good as I thought (or wished) that I looked. If I wanted to see my reflection I'd look in a mirror. I also hate going down the frozen food aisle...it scares me to look in the glass doors to see what I actually look like. If you can't see yourself then you can imagine that you look good and then you feel good. Nothing blows your self esteem that seeing what you actually look like through a glass door.

Monkeying Around!!!

Wow it has taken me some time but I have finally finished making the Monkey for Madi. I showed her the one that Nicole made and she loved it and wanted me to make her one. Let me say, its pretty nerve raking to have somone standing over your sholder waiting for you to sew them a Monkey. Madi could hardly wait for me to finish. I messed up, I didn't realize that the body was to be made out of the print material to become the shirt of the monkey, so when I finished I realized we had a shirtless monkey on our hands. Needless to say I was making a shirt for her to wear. It really was fun to make and not to hard either. I look forward to my next project....If I find one and if Nicole lets me use her machine again. Thanks Nicole!!

P.S. Nicholas was playing with the monkey and already lost one shoe.....I guess she must be a cinderella monkey!!

Nicholas to be potty trained :)
The kids quit telling me that they are bored
A bigger kitchen, where I actually have room for stuff
Someone to make dinner other than me!
The laundry done for at least more than a day.
Shawn to actually think and care about getting me a Christmas gift before Christmas Eve!
Shawn to write me a love letter instead of worrying on Christmas eve about getting me a gift.
The dog to not have any accidents in the house!!
A new kitchen table.
Donny to be my friend and actually know who I am
Donny to sing to me
My sister Lori to come and visit me!!
For everyone to stop telling me I need to go on biggest loser or that I need to have a gastric bypass.
My kids to stop saying that I am the worst mom in the world or that they hate me.
To be 10 years younger
My 20 year high school reunion not to be in 6 months
To be out of credit card debt
My hair to stop going grey so often
My kids to realize I have a life that isn't centered around them, oh wait I don't have one

I guess you could say for Christmas this year I am asking for a miracle!

Disneyland!!

I'm finally going to blog about my family trip. We had so much fun!!! the first day traveling down to Sunny California was quite an adventure. The freeway got shut down at the Nevada California border for almost 3 hours. Luckily it was by a mall so we went shopping. We got in California to late to try and go to the beach, so we just went to the motel and went out to dinner and found a target so we could get swimming suits to go swimming at the motel. anyway, the next day we wake up early to go into Disneyland, we had the early entrance tickets, and Nicky has a fever and threw up. I felt bad for him. We gave him Tylenol and took him anyway. The first ride we went on broke down so we were caught in the line for about 35 min. while we were there we ran into Shawn's sister, who had been there since Monday. My Mom bought us tiaras that she found at the mall and she made us wear them on the first day there. Ok I was embarrassed, but oh well I will never see these people again, so who cares right? That was the best day there. Not to many people just perfect. We didn't have to wait very long for any ride.
We ate dinner that night at the Blue Bayou. It's the restaurant inside of the pirates ride. It was so awesome!!! I would say that was a highlight of the trip. The food was so good. The dessert was shaped like a pirate ship and it came with a souvenir sail. The fireworks were amazing!! The made it snow after that was so cool! I totally loved the new Buzz Lightyear ride. It was fun shooting the targets. Friday and Sat were pretty much crowded there and cold. Shawn and Scott stayed til midnight one night. They had tons of fun. We came home on Sunday from California all the way to Kaysville. We left at 7 am and got home at 7:30 pm A long ride! We had DVD's to watch, so it wasn't that bad. My Mom and Dad came with us a brought my niece. We really had tons of fun playing and might I add SHOPPING at Disneyland. It is so beautiful there at Christmastime!! Ps My score is zero cause Nicky just handed it to me

Well, we are off to Disneyland. We love to go to Disneyland at Christmas and see the beautiful decorations. We went there 4 years ago, so its time to go again. I can't wait to see Nicholas's reaction to all of the rides and characters. Hopefully we will have time to go to the beach and play in the sand. We are driving so we have plenty of movies to watch in the car. Ok I should stop blogging and pack the car up. We are just so excited, our two favorite things together, (MY 2 favorite things) CHRISTMAS & DISNEYLAND!!!!!

Well, we are off to go down to St.George for Thanksgiving! yeah. It has been awhile since we went down there. I love going down there to see my family. We always have lots of fun playing games after dinner. This year it is Nicholas' Birthday, so we will have a party after to celebrate it. We always go the craft fair that is going on that weekend. St. George is always crowed and
packed this time of year. trying to go to the after Thanksgiving day sales is a total nightmare. Maybe this year we should just hang out at grandma's house and have fun. We usually have a tradition to cut down a Christmas tree; however, everyone has a fake tree so I doubt we will go this year. I love Thanksgiving time! I have so much to be thankful for. My life has been so blessed. I hope you all have a great THANKSGIVING!!!

Slowly but surely

OK, so it's time to blog again. Nothing really has gone on to blog about. The everyday life of a mom trying to raise a teenager, a tween daughter and a 2 year old, is quite full of drama and surprises, some good and some well, not so good, Especially if you add the naughty little puppy Shawn gave me for my birthday. So you would think I would have tons to blog about. Anyway, It is getting exciting that the addition now has a definite shape to it. The cement guy came and put the forms up to pour the concrete for the addition. I am looking at the size of it all and I am thinking my master bedroom is going to be a small room. Shawn spent hours digging a hole for the pipes to go in for the plumbing. I still think it will take about 2 years until its completely done. I am so glad that Shawn is so handy that he can do a lot of the work himself. I am also glad that he doesn't read my blog! :)

Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a rut? I am feeling that way now, I have nothing to blog about. No fun events, other than play group, to talk about. Ok, there is the daily events that happen when you have a almost 2 year old a puppy and a cat running around. They love to drive me nuts all day and make so many messes for me to clean up. That is my life right now. I am so looking forward to YW tonight. I get to get out of my house and do something. Tomorrow the cement guy is suppose to come and pour the footings for the addition, we'll see if he actually comes. If he does, yippee I will have something to actually blog about and not go on talking about nonsense! Does anyone ever read my blog anyway? I always wonder if anyone does.

Yeah!!! I got my pillow case in the mail today. I am excited. Now I can take Donny to bed with me and into my dreams! :) I found this cute pillowcase on ebay, and you know I just had to have it. The picture above is not the real one, but i just made it look similar. My name is in the same print as the other writing. I wonder what Shawn is going to think of it when I take it to bed with me tonight. I love Donny, but Shawn is my biggest love of all!!!

Pat's bread bowls

Sunday we went to the Buchanan's house for dinner. We each had Chili left over from the Chili cook off, so Patrick said he'd make some bread bowls for our chili. yeah, I said Patrick. I wish Shawn knew how to cook. I mean I wish he could cook anything , ok besides toast. It would be nice not to have to cook day in and day night, for people who only complain about what you make. Ok I will stop now, for I could go on and on. Anyway, back to the bread bowls, they were so good. I like Patricks roll recipe, it the Lion House dinner rolls. Sorry Patrick if I just gave away your secret recipe. I dare say Holly is lucky to have someone who will cook for her. After dinner we played the WII and Holly and Pat played singing star on the playstation. They rocked out to the 80's. They were sonny and Cher! Hey no, They were Donny and Marie!

Chili cook off!!

I made some chili for the ward chili cook off . I cooked the chili all day long and I thought that my chili didn't turn out very good at all. I used beans that I had soaked the night before, and even with cooking them all day they still came out a little hard. I decided to take my chili anyway, I am glad I did because I won third place in the chili cook off! Yeah, I was so shocked, I still cant believe it. I wonder if the andes mint chocolate chip that Scott threw in the chili made the difference?!

Jenny DeCow's award winning Chili

3 cups pinto beans (soak them the night before)
2 15 oz cans petite diced tomatoes I used chipotle flavored
2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
1 15oz can of black beans
2 lbs Hamburger
1 onion (cook with hamburger)
2 pkgs chili seasoning
1 andes mint chocolate chip (optional)

Cook pinto beans on low for about 3 hrs, drain. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce and one pkg of seasoning. Cook on high for about 3 hrs. Add black beans and cooked hamburger, onion and chili seasoning. Cook until your ready to eat.

So, there you have it. That is how I made my chili. I didn't even get a chance to eat it.

Goats are gone

Well, we had to say goodbye to the goats. It was pretty sad to see Madi and Scott say their final farewells. Nicholas just cried when the new owners came to get them. They will be living in Bountiful on a 7 acre home. I guess knowing they are going to a family with kids will be nice.

Can you believe I have a 14 year old!! It seems like just a short time ago I was taking him to kindergarten for the first time. Now he is in 8 th grade and determined to make a 4.0. Where has the time gone! Let me tell you, it is way harder to buy presents for a teen that it was when he was younger. The presents get bigger and more expensive. He got a machine gun airsoft riffle and a lego set. I hope he had a good birthday. It was actually Monday, but I was busy trying to get his presents. Tonight he has a choir concert at the high school. He looked so cute in his choir tux this morning. He was holding his machine gun this morning, he looked like a character from a James Bond movie. He is a funny boy and lots of fun. I enjoy watching Star Trek with him every night. He is such a good big brother too. I appreciate all that he does for me. Happy Birthday Scott!!!

Goodbye Goats :(

OK, I have some rather sad and frustrating news to tell. Some cowardly Self-Righteous person called the Davis County Animal Control on us to report our goats. The Animal Control lady came over yesterday and informed me that we must get rid of our goats because our property was not big enough for them. Get Real!!! what a lame excuse! If they were dogs, even regular sized or large dogs it doesn't matter how big your yard is. The goats are very small and have plenty of room. The neighborhood has enjoyed having them here. We are always getting people over to come see the goats. (or so we thought!) We have never had anyone complain about them at all. So to that cowardly person who called the DCAC to complain, I would like you to come to my house and tell my kids that they have to get rid of their pets that they have come to love, and see how you are breaking their hearts! Just because you were jealous or thought you were doing your civic duty, but really your just butting into someone business and you didn't even have the courage to come and tell me what you thought of the goats yourself. Thanks a lot!!! oh yeah, thank you to my neighbor (Pat) who broght me 2 boxes of my favorite cookies, that helped a little. :)

Confession time!

I love to go to Build a Bear. I tell the kids the bears or whatever we pick to make are for them, but secretly I love to go to build a bear! Something about picking out your cute little fury friend, stuffing him and putting in a heart, bathing him, just makes me feel like a kid again. I would have loved to go to Build a Bear as a child, but as a so called grown up, I can go as much as I want. Well, I have to do something while Scott is at the planetarium.
